STEM Guitar Camp - $300.00
About this Camp
Get ready for an unforgettable hands-on experience where creativity, craftsmanship, and science come together! At this immersive camp, aspiring young builders and makers will learn how guitars are designed, constructed, and brought to life all while exploring real-world connections to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
What You’ll Learn:
• The fundamentals of electric and acoustic guitar design and construction, including how components fit and function together.
• Practical skills like woodworking, shaping, sanding, finishing, and understanding electronics — all essential parts of building a guitar from the ground up.
• How math, physics, and engineering principles are applied in real projects from fret spacing and body geometry to sound waves and material properties.
• Problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork as you bring your own custom instrument to life.
Lunch & Snacks: Campers are required to bring their own lunch each day. Refrigerators and microwaves will be available for storing and reheating meals if needed. Vending machines are also available on-site for snacks and drinks; however, campers should bring money if they wish to purchase items. Required Attire: For safety purposes, campers must wear: Closed-toe shoes (no sandals or open-toe footwear) Long pants to protect their legs during hands-on activities. Campers who do not meet attire requirements may not be permitted to participate in certain activities for safety reasons. Because the camp is fully indoors, sunscreen and insect repellent are not necessary. We look forward to providing a safe, engaging, and hands-on learning experience for all participants! Campers will proudly take home the guitar they built themselves.

Registrants hereby agree to the Camp Waiver of Liability & Policies found at https://johnstoncc-register.fundfive.com/camp/policy. JCC Summer Camps are not eligible for transfer or refund, as registration fees fund these programs. However, registrants will receive a 100% refund if the College cancels the camp.
