This course introduces the student to machining operations as they relate to the gunsmithing industry. Topics include machine shop safety, measuring tools, blueprint reading, lathes, saws, milling machines, bench grinders, and layout instruments. Upon completion the student will manufacture tools necessary for the gunsmithing trade, and will perform basic operations of measuring, layout, drilling, sawing, turning, and milling as well as follow safe practices in these manufacturing processes.

Students must be able to obtain a pistol purchase permit from the local Sheriff’s office or possess a valid state issued concealed carry permit.
